Circuits and technologies for high-density neural recording

Carolina Mora Lopez (IMEC)

Microfabricated silicon neural probes have established as the dominant neuroscience technology for brain studies by achieving ever increasing densities and numbers of simultaneous recording electrodes. This tutorial will provide a general overview of existing techniques and requirements to perform neural recording, as well as an in-depth review of in vivo CMOS neural probes: technology requirements, materials, circuit techniques, design problems and possible solutions. A discussion on future trends and remaining challenges will also be included.
